Founded in 1985, and based in the Washington, DC area (with an office in New York City), Joseph Vallely/ Flaming Star Literary Enterprises, LLC specializes in upscale commercial nonfiction, with a focus on politics and current affairs. Foreign and film rights are handled through co-agents.

JOSEPH BRENDAN VALLELY is the founder of the company. His background includes fourteen years of sales, marketing and editorial experience with Random House, Penguin Putnam and the Los Angeles Times and New York Times newspaper syndicates. He was born in North Carolina and raised in suburban Harrisburg and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served with the US Army in Vietnam from 1968-69, and received a BA in English from Denison University in 1966.
